About the Team

Our Infrastructure Services team sits within Infrastructure & Cloud Services and is part of a technology department of more than 50 specialised engineers and technical experts. Together, the team builds, manages and optimises the core infrastructure technologies that support Sigma Healthcare’s operations and evolving business needs.

 

About the Role

Based at our Preston Support Office and reporting to the Infrastructure Systems & Platforms Team Lead, you will build, operate and contribute to the design of enterprise-wide infrastructure platforms and systems. You will provide technical direction, improve the resilience and security of critical services, and drive robust processes and continuous optimisation across cloud and on-premises environments.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams to plan, design and implement infrastructure systems, solutions and tooling across cloud and on-premises platforms.
  • Monitor core infrastructure and Microsoft platforms to maintain high availability, reliability and performance.
  • Maintain, test and continually improve high-availability and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Design scalable, resilient, secure and cost-effective infrastructure solutions aligned with business and technology priorities.
  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise across infrastructure platforms, systems and associated technologies.
  • Lead investigation, troubleshooting and resolution of complex infrastructure incidents and service degradation.
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement in provisioning, configuration, monitoring, patching and operational processes.
  • Manage platform lifecycles, including upgrades, patching, capacity planning, performance optimisation and technology refresh.
  • Assess compliance with organisational policies, security standards and regulatory requirements, and address identified gaps.
  • Mentor fellow engineers and encourage knowledge sharing, consistent practices and technical excellence.

 

Who are we looking for?

  • A degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • At least seven years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, together with professional experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange and messaging services, Microsoft 365, Windows and Linux Server operating systems and Microsoft core services.
  • Experience with identity and access management platforms such as Microsoft Entra.
  • Strong organisational, planning and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • A collaborative, adaptable approach, with initiative, willingness to learn and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Experience working in IT engineering teams and delivering projects in large organisations is highly regarded.
  • Advanced Excel skills, financial acumen and SharePoint experience are highly regarded.
  • A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel between sites as required; a National Police Check is required for new team members.
