The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Financial Reporting team within Group Finance, based at our Head Office in Preston. Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting, this role plays a key part in delivering accurate, compliant and high-quality financial reporting across a large, complex ASX-listed environment.
You’ll be hands-on across statutory reporting, month-end and technical accounting, while driving improvements in reporting processes, controls and governance.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End
- Review general ledger and month-end reconciliations to ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies
- Identify and implement improvements to optimise the month-end close process
- Strengthen balance sheet reconciliation practices to ensure accuracy and integrity of key accounts
Leases & Fixed Assets
- Support lease accounting processes and systems (including Progen)
- Maintain lease data and partner closely with the Property team
- Support AASB 16 reporting requirements
- Lead Fixed Asset Management across the Group, ensuring consistent controls and policy application
Technical Accounting
- Provide technical support across complex and non-routine accounting matters
- Prepare technical accounting papers and conduct research
- Support implementation of new accounting standards and assess business impacts
- Contribute to retail-specific accounting areas including rebates, inventory and provisioning
Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Strengthen financial controls, policies and governance frameworks
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives
- Support special projects across the finance function
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with Group Finance, Retail Finance and Shared Services teams
- Collaborate with Tax, Legal and Property stakeholders
- Liaise with external auditors and advisors
About You
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- CA / CPA qualified
- Experience in financial accounting or external audit (Big 4 or mid-tier highly regarded)
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
- Experience in statutory reporting and financial governance
- Exposure to large or complex environments (ASX experience desirable)
- Experience with lease accounting (AASB 16) and systems such as Progen (desirable)
- Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail
- Experience driving process improvements and efficiencies
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders
- A proactive, solutions-focused and commercially minded approach
