Title:  People Operations Lead

Employment Type:  Permanent Full Time

About the Opportunity

Our People Operations teams play a critical role in supporting the employee lifecycle for our Retail and Logistics businesses. From advertising vacancies and onboarding new team members through to employment changes and ongoing people administration, the team delivers the operational support that keeps our business moving.

We are looking for an experienced and customer-focused Team Lead to oversee:

  • Recruitment Administration, responsible for recruitment administration, job advertisements, employment offers and onboarding; and
  • People & Culture Operations, responsible for employment changes, contract variations and maintaining accurate employee records.

We are looking for someone who enjoys developing people, creating consistency and building a team that is recognised for delivering exceptional customer service, accurate advice and operational excellence.

You will bring a continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to simplify processes, improve service delivery and enhance the way we support our leaders and team members. You'll also play an important role in bringing the two teams together, creating consistent ways of working and building one collaborative, high-performing People Operations function.

Our Retail and Logistics businesses are large, diverse and operationally complex, so there is plenty to learn. Experience working with SAP SuccessFactors will be highly regarded, as it will help you transition into the role more quickly and allow you to focus on developing the team, improving processes and supporting the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop two teams, fostering a positive, collaborative, and customer-focused culture.
  • Plan workloads and resources to ensure service standards and operational priorities are consistently achieved.
  • Act as the key escalation point for complex recruitment administration, onboarding and employee lifecycle enquiries.
  • Build strong relationships with leaders across Retail and Logistics, providing guidance and education on People Operations processes and systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement by reviewing existing processes, identifying opportunities to simplify the way we work and improving the customer experience.
  • Use your knowledge of SAP SuccessFactors to identify system enhancements, improve workflows and support system upgrades, testing and implementation.
  • Monitor team performance, provide regular coaching and feedback, and support the ongoing development of your team members.
  • Support the team during peak operational periods and maintain your own portfolio of work when required.
  • Work collaboratively across the broader People & Culture team to deliver consistent, high-quality service to the business.

This role is based out of our Preston office 4-days per-week, with flexibility to Work-From-Home 1-day per week.

About You

You will be an experienced leader who enjoys developing people and improving the way teams work. You're equally comfortable leading day-to-day operations, building relationships with stakeholders and identifying better ways of delivering services.

You will also bring:

  • Demonstrated experience leading an administration, shared services or People Operations team.
  • Experience developing and coaching high-performing teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to educate and support leaders.
  • Experience reviewing and improving business processes.
  • Experience working with SAP SuccessFactors, particularly Recruitment and Employee Central, will be highly regarded.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to balance operational priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook.
