Job Description
As a Payroll Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth and accurate payroll operations. You'll be responsible for a variety of essential tasks including processing pays, back pays, managing Work Cover administration, conducting audits, and maintaining accurate personnel records. Your work will support the wider team and ensure we are meeting compliance standards while optimising payroll processes.
Role Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the payroll process by reviewing payroll and direct payment reports to ensure accurate and timely employee payments.
- Maintain and update payroll system data, ensuring all employee records are accurate, compliant, and up to date.
- Act as a trusted point of contact for payroll queries, providing clear advice and solutions to employees and key stakeholders.
- Process payments through online banking platforms with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by supporting employees with payroll-related enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct regular audits of annual leave, personal leave, and long service leave in line with relevant legislation and agreements.
- Manage complex payroll transactions, including back pays, Lump Sum E payments, and superannuation adjustments.
About You
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to confidently manage and analyse payroll data.
- Hands-on experience with payroll systems such as PayGlobal and UKG Pro T&A.
- Proven experience working in a high-volume payroll environment, with the ability to manage complexity and scale.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll legislation, processes, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret awards, agreements, and relevant legislation accurately.
- A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and contributing to team knowledge and efficiency.
