Title:  Graduate Accountant

Employment Type:  Fixed/Maximum Term Full Time

About the Team
At Sigma Healthcare, our Finance team provides financial stewardship, governance and strategic support across the organisation. The team is responsible for financial control, statutory and management reporting, planning and forecasting, treasury, tax and business performance insights, helping Sigma make informed decisions and deliver sustainable long-term outcomes.

Our Shared Services Finance team supports the day-to-day financial operations of the business, working across multiple entities and markets to maintain accurate financial records, deliver key accounting processes and support the broader Finance function.

About the Role
Recently completed an accounting qualification and looking to start your professional accounting career?

We’re hiring a Graduate Accountant to join our Shared Services Finance team at Sigma Healthcare on a fixed-term contract through to 30 June 2027. This is a genuine graduate opportunity designed for someone at the very start of their career who wants to gain hands-on experience, build confidence and develop strong accounting foundations in a supportive and structured environment.

Previous experience in a similar role is not essential. You’ll receive training, guidance and mentoring from experienced team members, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and develop your skills as you learn.

Role Responsibilities
From day one, you’ll gain hands-on exposure to real accounting work while being supported by experienced members of the team.

You’ll assist with:

  • Bank reconciliations across Australia, New Zealand and Ireland
  • Journals and general ledger support
  • Month-end close activities and statutory compliance, including BAS and PAYGI
  • Fixed asset accounting and asset register maintenance
  • Responding to internal Finance and banking queries with support

You’ll learn not just what to do, but why it matters and how your work contributes to a large and complex Finance function.

Graduate Development Pathway

Throughout your fixed-term contract, you’ll follow a structured graduate development pathway designed to progressively build your confidence, capability and independence.

Your development journey will include:

  • Foundation & Onboarding – Learn our systems, processes and end-to-end accounting fundamentals
  • Skill Building – Take on core accounting activities with guidance, coaching and regular feedback
  • Increased Ownership – Build responsibility for reconciliations and support month-end close activities
  • Career Readiness – Develop the skills, experience and capability to support the next step in your accounting career

You’ll also be supported in pursuing CA or CPA studies as part of your ongoing professional development.

Who Are We Looking For?

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has recently completed, or is nearing completion of, an Accounting degree or Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Accounting
  • Is keen to learn and build a career in accounting
  • Is detail-oriented, organised and comfortable working with numbers
  • Communicates confidently and isn’t afraid to ask questions
  • Is interested in commencing CA or CPA studies
  • Is an Australian or New Zealand citizen or holds Australian Permanent Residency

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
