About the Role

We are looking for a Financial Accountant with an analytical and enquiring mind and who can deliver commercial outcomes with a high level of energy and pace. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include: 

 

  • Period-end accounting and reporting for Group Finance, including General Ledger maintenance, management reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations; 
  • Responding to financial inquiries by gathering and interpreting data; 
  • General business support and continuous process improvements. 

 

This role will be based at our Head Office in Preston and will be 4 days a week in the office and 1 day working from home. 

Key Responsibilities

Period end accounting 

  • Period-end accounting and reporting for corporate entities including International retail stores, including General Ledger maintenance, management reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations 
  • Analytical reviews and assessment of performance of allocated entities 
  • Preparation of monthly profit and loss, and internal reporting  
  • Appropriate use of Chart of Accounts and maintenance of the general ledger 
  • Support statutory financial reporting compliance requirements, including audit requests 

Gathering and interpreting data 

  • Supported by team to develop analytical skills on business KPIs 
  • Responsive to internal and external stakeholders on queries that arise 
  • Able to work with team to consider and present solutions to issues encountered

Business support

  • Support effective development of processes to support the delivery of Group Finance’s financial reporting  
  • Raise opportunities for continuous improvements aimed at enhancing efficiency and accuracy of outputs as well as engagement from key business stakeholders.   

About You

  • Suits a first-time mover from Professional Services firm – audit background preferred with at least 3-4 years’ experience  
  • Formal Education - Degree qualification in Accounting or Commerce
  • CAANZ or CPA Australia qualified 
  • Knowledge of current accounting standards 
  • Motivated with a “can do” attitude with high level of initiatives  
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills – Excel essential 
  • Ability to adhere to strict timelines and adapt in an agile environment 
  • Good communication– both written and verbal 
  • A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data 
  • Problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement 
  • Self-driven and time management  
  • Strong accountability of deliverables
