Title:  Enterprise Master Data Capability Lead

Employment Type:  Permanent Full Time

About the Team

Our Retail Strategy & Integration team supports strategic and transformation initiatives across Sigma Healthcare’s retail business. Working with Retail Operations, IT, Finance, Supply Chain and Commercial teams, we help improve operational efficiency and business performance across our pharmacy network.

About the Role

Based at our Preston Support Office and reporting to the Head of Operations Planning, Performance & Analytics, you will establish and lead our enterprise Master Data Management (MDM) capability across our organization commencing with Product, Supplier and Customer domains. You’ll work with business leaders, commercial, operations, supply chain, technology and analytics teams — and our implementation partner — to set the strategy and turn it into practical change.

Over the next two to four years, you’ll lead the business towards a mature MDM practice: clear ownership and stewardship, consistent standards, measurable data quality, reliable services and technology that supports efficient, connected ways of working. The aim is to improve business performance, maintain efficient onboarding and give teams greater confidence in the data they rely on.

You’ll shape the governance and operating model, build stewardship capability, prioritise platform and workflow improvements, and guide data quality and remediation. You’ll also establish service measures and performance reporting, while identifying where automation and AI can improve day-to-day data management.

This is an opportunity to build an enduring enterprise capability and help embed better data practices across Sigma Healthcare at an exciting point in its growth. Following its 2025 merger with Chemist Warehouse, the business brings together community pharmacy retail, wholesale and distribution capabilities.

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the enterprise MDM strategy and roadmap with our implementation partner.
  • Establish governance forums, decision-making processes, data ownership, stewardship, policies, standards and controls.
  • Lead the master data capability across governance, stewardship and shared services, with clear accountability for outcomes.
  • Manage daily operations, service catalogues, KPIs, service level agreements and performance reporting to deliver reliable services.
  • Drive data quality and remediation programs, process standardisation and continuous improvement across business units.
  • Manage dependencies and escalations across data domains, building stewardship capability and business engagement.
  • Define platform requirements and partner with technology teams to deliver workflow, integration and data quality capabilities.
  • Evaluate automation, AI and advanced analytics opportunities to improve master data operations and onboarding speed.
  • Partner with senior leaders and domain owners, providing expert advice and presenting recommendations and outcomes to executives.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, control costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Promote safe ways of working and ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures and risk controls.

Who are we looking for?

  • A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or a similar discipline.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in Master Data Management, Data Governance, Data Management, Business Transformation or related disciplines.
  • Experience in Retail, FMCG, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Distribution or Supply Chain environments.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing or leading enterprise MDM capabilities and developing operating, governance and service delivery models.
  • Experience delivering transformation initiatives across functions and a strong understanding of Product, Supplier and/or Customer master data processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including influencing senior leaders and executives and navigating differing perspectives.
  • A proactive, commercially and customer focused approach, with ownership of outcomes and the ability to solve complex problems and work through ambiguity.
  • Exposure to MDM, Data Quality, Workflow and Integration platforms, SAP or related enterprise platforms will be highly regarded.
  • Experience using AI and automation to improve data management and operational efficiency will be highly regarded.
