Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, aspiring and solutions focused Barista / Canteen Assistant to join our ever growing and well-loved family business. Your responsibilities in this role, include but are not limited to:

Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare sandwiches, wraps, salads, and other café menu items following recipes and presentation standards.
- Assist in preparing ingredients (slicing vegetables, prepping meats, sauces, etc.).
- Ensure accurate portion sizes and product consistency.
- Serve food and beverages to customers promptly and professionally.
- Make and serve hot and cold drinks, including coffees, teas, and juices.
Customer Service
- Greet customers warmly and take orders in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Provide menu information and offer recommendations when needed.
- Handle customer requests, feedback, and complaints courteously and professionally.
- Operate the cash register, process payments, and issue receipts.
Food Safety & Hygiene
- Follow all food safety standards, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature control.
- Maintain cleanliness of food preparation areas, service counters, and equipment.
- Regularly clean and sanitise work surfaces, utensils, and appliances.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.

Stock & Inventory
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients, packaging, and café supplies.
- Restock shelves, fridges, and display cabinets throughout the day.
- Inform supervisors of low stock or required orders.
- Rotate stock to ensure freshness (FIFO – First In, First Out).
General Café Operations
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning, setting up food displays, and restocking.
- Keep dining and service areas clean and tidy (tables, chairs, condiment stations).
- Collect and dispose of rubbish, and manage cleaning checklists as required.
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth café operations.
Teamwork & Professionalism
- Work collaboratively with kitchen, coffee, and front-of-house staff.
- Communicate clearly and follow instructions from supervisors and management.
- Maintain a friendly, positive attitude and professional appearance.
