About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant who has an analytical and enquiring mind and can deliver commercial outcomes with a high level of energy and pace. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include:
- Period-end accounting and reporting for Group Finance, including General Ledger maintenance, management reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations;
- Responding to financial inquiries by gathering, analysing and interpreting data;
- General business support and supporting the team with projects and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Period end accounting
- Period-end accounting and reporting for corporate entities including International retail stores, including General Ledger maintenance, management reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparation of monthly profit and loss, and internal reporting
- Assist the Leads, Senior or Financial Accountants in a variety of tasks aimed at improving financial reporting and procedures
- Appropriate use of Chart of Accounts and maintenance of the general ledger
- Support financial reporting requirements, including audit requests
Gathering and interpreting data
- Apply Excel skills to practically enhance and automate manual processes, reporting and analysis with accuracy
- Supported by team to develop analytical skills on business KPIs
- Responsive to internal and external stakeholders on queries that arise
- Able to escalate accounting matters, to team members where further investigation is required
Business support and continuous improvements
- Support effective development of processes to support the delivery of Group Finance’s financial reporting
About You
- Suitable for a Junior Analyst or Accountant with at least 2 years’ experience in a commercial finance team
- Formal Education - Degree qualification in Accounting or Commerce
- Studying towards / completed CAANZ or CPA qualification.
- Basic knowledge of current accounting standards
- Motivated with a “can do” attitude with high level of initiatives
- Intermediate-Advanced Microsoft Office skills – Excel essential
- Ability to adhere to strict timelines and adapt in an agile environment
- Good communication skills – both written and verbal
- A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data
- Great team player
