The Opportunity
We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our Financial Reporting team. Reporting to the Financial Reporting Lead, this role supports the financial operations of the organisation, with a strong focus on payroll tax compliance alongside broader accounting and reporting responsibilities.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with detail, values accuracy, and is looking to develop their finance career within a complex, fast-paced corporate environment.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Tax Compliance
- Support end-to-end payroll tax compliance across all Australian states and territories, including monthly, quarterly and annual lodgements
- Assist with payroll tax calculations, reconciliations and validation of payroll data
- Maintain awareness of payroll tax legislation and jurisdictional thresholds
- Support payroll tax audits and respond to queries from state revenue authorities
- Assist with the development and maintenance of payroll tax processes, documentation and internal controls
General Accounting & Reporting
- Perform month-end reconciliations and assist in resolving discrepancies
- Support financial analysis, reporting packs and data preparation
- Assist with journals, system updates and general ledger maintenance
- Support other compliance activities including BAS lodgements
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with Payroll, Tax and Finance teams to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting
- Build effective working relationships across the business, including stores, DCs and support offices
- Provide a high standard of internal customer service
About You
- Experience in an accounting or finance support role within a corporate or professional services environment
- Exposure to payroll tax compliance and multi-state reporting is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and reconciliation processes
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident communicator with a collaborative, proactive approach
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment
