Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, aspiring and customer focused Aged Care Pharmacy Technician to join our ever growing and well-loved family business. In this fast paced, multifaceted role, you are required to perform tasks under Pharmacist supervision to the standards set by The Pharmacy Board of Australia, The Pharmacy Guild and QCPP.

Responsibilities:

  • Greeting customers warmly and promptly addressing their needs.
  • Verifying that prescriptions include all necessary information before dispensing.
  • Accurately dispensing, labeling, and preparing prescriptions, dose administration aids (DAAs), and extemporaneous prescriptions for pharmacist approval.
  • Assisting with Medicare claims, prescription management, and documentation.
  • Managing inventory for dispensary and DAAs, restocking as directed.
  • Preparing and packing orders for residential aged care facilities, and delivering medicines if needed.
  • Supporting aged care pharmacy operations, including audits and customer account management.
  • Handling customer inquiries and complaints professionally, escalating unresolved issues to a Supervisor or Manager.
  • Ensuring all dispensary and packing areas, as well as consulting and counseling spaces, are clean and orderly

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years experience in community pharmacy.
  • Have acquired the competencies for a Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy.
  • Have completed, are willing to complete or are actively progressing through the competencies for a community pharmacy Dispensary Technician, as specified by the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
  • Have acquired, are willing to acquire or are actively progressing through the relevant Dispensary Technician competencies as determined by the National Quality Council or a successor body, as defined in the Pharmacy Industry Award 2020.
  • Desirable criteria are: Intermediate to advanced computer skills & Experience with automated DAA packing machinery. 

Certifications

Dispensary Assistant Qualification as a minimum
