Title: Retail Manager
Lead something new at Chemist Warehouse Mt Ommaney
We are opening a brand-new Chemist Warehouse x Ultra Beauty store at Mt Ommaney and are looking for an experienced, people-focused Retail Manager to lead our foundation team.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape a new store from day one - building the culture, developing a capable team and creating an exceptional experience for every customer. Working closely with the Managing Pharmacist, you will take ownership of the store’s day-to-day retail operations and bring energy, structure and hands-on leadership to a large, fast-paced environment.
Why this opportunity stands out
- Lead the foundation team of a brand-new store and help establish its culture, standards and ways of working from the ground up.
- Work in a large, modern Chemist Warehouse x Ultra Beauty store featuring a state-of-the-art dispensary and an extensive beauty and fragrance offering.
- Join an approachable, hands-on leadership team that values initiative, collaboration and genuine customer care.
- Access ongoing training, leadership development and supported career pathways across our growing pharmacy network.
- Enjoy team member discounts, recognition programs, performance incentives, team celebrations and confidential EAP support.
- Benefit from easy public transport access, free undercover staff parking and a convenient shopping-centre location with more than 150 specialty stores.
About the role
As Retail Manager, you will work alongside the Managing Pharmacist to lead the retail team and ensure the store operates safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard. You will be visible on the floor, supporting customers and team members while balancing people leadership, operational priorities and commercial outcomes.
A typical day may include:
- Leading, motivating and supporting the retail team to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Coordinating recruitment, onboarding, rostering, training and ongoing team development.
- Setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback and addressing performance or conduct concerns fairly and promptly.
- Working with the Managing Pharmacist to plan daily priorities and maintain smooth store operations.
- Ensuring policies, procedures, safety requirements and operational standards are consistently followed.
- Monitoring stock presentation, promotional activity, merchandising standards and stock discrepancies.
- Responding to customer queries and resolving issues with confidence, care and sound judgement.
- Recognising strong performance and building an inclusive culture where people feel supported, accountable and proud of their work.
About you
You are a confident and approachable retail leader who enjoys being hands-on and developing people. You can bring structure to a busy environment, make sound decisions and maintain a positive team culture while delivering strong operational and customer outcomes.
- Previous retail management or senior supervisory experience, ideally within pharmacy, health, beauty, grocery or another high-volume retail environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and developing a diverse team.
- Confidence managing performance, attendance, conduct and other day-to-day staffing matters.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to calmly resolve complex or sensitive situations.
- Sound operational judgement, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience coordinating recruitment, rostering, training and workplace safety activities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with team members and key stakeholders.
- Comfort using point-of-sale, rostering, inventory and other retail systems.
- A dedicated work ethic and willingness to work alongside the team during busy periods.
Learning, development and recognition
We want our leaders to feel confident, supported and equipped to succeed. You will receive ongoing guidance and practical development, with opportunities to strengthen your leadership capability and build a long-term career across our growing network.
We also celebrate great work through service recognition, performance incentives, store achievements, team celebrations and recognition of individual contributions.
What is in it for you?
- A full-time leadership opportunity in a brand-new, high-profile store.
- The chance to build and shape a team culture from the beginning.
- A friendly, inclusive and supportive working environment.
- Ongoing training, leadership development and career progression opportunities.

- Free flu vaccinations and access to confidential EAP and support services.
- Recognition programs, performance incentives and regular team celebrations.
The work environment
Our stores are busy, energetic environments where no two days are the same. This is a hands-on retail leadership role, and you will spend much of your shift working throughout the pharmacy and supporting the team on the floor. The role may involve standing for extended periods, repetitive movements and occasional lifting of heavier items, so please keep this in mind when applying.
