Role Overview:


As Store Manager, you will lead the retail and dispensing team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the store while driving profitability and exceptional customer care. You’ll coordinate front-of-house activities, manage staffing and training, and work collaboratively with the optometry team to support clinical needs. Your leadership will ensure the highest standard of service, operational efficiency, and workplace safety.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Retail & Dispensing Operations:

  • Oversee daily store operations to ensure efficiency and profit optimization

  • Supervise the use of optical devices and cameras under Optometrist supervision

  • Guide team in presenting and explaining ophthalmic lenses in line with clinical recommendations

  • Coordinate with optometry staff to support clinical procedures and ensure workflow alignment

  • Deliver exceptional customer service across all touchpoints

  • Manage store opening, closing, and associated security procedures

  • Enforce compliance with workplace safety and store security protocols

 

Staff Management:

  • Supervise all dispensing team members to ensure effective task completion

  • Plan rosters and manage staffing levels in line with business needs

  • Interview, hire, and induct new team members

  • Monitor, assess, and support employee performance, addressing any conduct issues

  • Provide regular feedback and coordinate ongoing staff training and development

  • Process payroll and oversee staff remuneration on a fortnightly basis

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of Optometry Operating/Patient Management Systems (e.g., Optomate, Sunix, Socrates)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to represent the brand professionally to patients and customers

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; certifications preferred

  • Leadership experience in a retail or healthcare environment

  • Knowledge of optical products and dispensing practices
