Job Description
The Distribution Centre Team Manager is responsible for leading daily warehouse operations to deliver predictable, reliable and high‑quality service to our customers. This role drives operational excellence, continuous improvement, safety leadership and team performance within a fast‑paced FMCG environment.
We have four positions available in this hands‑on leadership role, requiring strong operational capability, people management skills, and a commitment to safety and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Distribution Centre Operations
- Daily warehouse leadership — oversee all operational activities to meet productivity, accuracy and service targets.
- Operational competency — perform and support all warehouse tasks in line with SOPs (e.g., receiving, picking, vault operations).
- Performance measurement — track, analyse and report on team and operational performance.
- Continuous improvement — engage the team to identify and implement efficiency, quality and cost‑saving initiatives.
- Inventory accuracy — maintain high standards of stock integrity and record accuracy.
- Safety leadership — ensure all WHS procedures, audits, equipment checks and emergency processes are followed.
- Compliance management — enforce SOPs, quality standards, contractor approvals and legislative requirements.
- People processes — manage attendance, performance, behaviour, payroll inputs and development plans.
- Crisis communication — maintain effective communication during incidents or emergencies.
- Operational support — provide hands‑on assistance to the team as required.
People Leadership
- Lead and motivate teams to meet operational and strategic goals.
- Provide a safe, inclusive and high‑performance environment.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding and training in partnership with HR.
- Set and monitor annual KPIs in OneSigma.
- Ensure all team members complete mandatory training.
- Foster teamwork, unity and alignment with Sigma Healthcare values.
About You
Qualifications (Desirable)
- New Zealand Certificate in Distribution (Level 4).
- New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health & Safety Practice (Level 4).
- Management training or demonstrated leadership competency.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a multi‑SKU FMCG warehouse at supervisory or frontline management level.
- Strong people leadership and team‑motivation capability.
- Proven delivery of WHS initiatives, including return‑to‑work processes.
- Experience with continuous improvement, problem‑solving and planning.
- Customer‑focused mindset with experience managing internal/external stakeholders.
- Exposure to primary transport operations.
- Proficiency with warehouse technology (RF scanning, automation systems).
- High security awareness.

- Direct Reports: Warehouse team members
- Mentorship: Provides coaching to Store Persons
- Travel: May be required between sites
