About The Role

As a Junior Financial Analyst, you’ll provide essential analytical, reporting, and modelling support to the Finance Team. You’ll help ensure financial accuracy, deliver insights that drive decision‑making, and support budgeting, forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role is ideal for someone early in their finance career who is eager to learn, collaborate, and build strong commercial capability.

This is a full time onsite role based at our support office in Grey Lynn. 

Key Resposibilities

  • Financial Reporting - Prepare monthly financial and management reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity.

  • Variance Analysis - Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through detailed analysis.

  • Month‑End Support - Assist with timely and accurate month‑end results and commentary.

  • Financial Insights - Provide actionable insights to support operational and strategic decisions.

  • Budgeting & Forecasting - Support annual budgets and rolling forecasts by gathering inputs and validating assumptions.

  • Process Improvement - Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and strengthen controls.

  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration - Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Merchandising, and store owners.

  • Administration & Communication - Manage emails, calls, meeting coordination, follow‑ups, and organised record‑keeping.

 

The Junior Financial Analyst works collaboratively across all departments within Chemist Warehouse New Zealand, building strong relationships with store owners, line managers, and operational teams to ensure financial considerations are embedded into everyday decision‑making. They foster open communication, demonstrate a supportive and solutions‑focused approach, and contribute positively to team culture by promoting a ‘can‑do’ attitude. As a key representative of the Finance function, the analyst influences outcomes through professionalism, clarity, and strong analytical capability, while actively supporting colleagues and maintaining cohesive working relationships across the wider business. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, or related discipline.

  • 1 year or more work experince in finance or accounting. 
  • Progress toward CA or CPA is preferred but not essential.

  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems; exposure to BI tools is advantageous.

  • Ability to work accurately with large datasets.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Current driver’s licence.
