About the Role
We are seeking a Workforce Planner to play a pivotal role in shaping the future capability of Sigma Healthcare New Zealand. This position ensures we have the right people, with the right skills, at the right time to meet both current operational needs and long‑term strategic growth.
You’ll use data‑driven insights to forecast workforce requirements, optimise labour utilisation, and support the expansion of Chemist Warehouse New Zealand and Sigma’s broader operations. This is a high‑impact role that directly contributes to operational excellence, cost‑effectiveness, and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Workforce Forecasting & Planning
- Analyse workforce data to forecast talent requirements and identify skill gaps.
- Develop short‑ and long‑term workforce plans aligned to business growth.
- Build and maintain workforce capacity models and scenario planning frameworks.
- Support operational labour planning.
Strategic Alignment
- Partner with senior leaders to align workforce strategies with business goals.
- Translate organisational strategy into actionable workforce plans.
- Provide insights and recommendations to support executive decision‑making.
- Collaborate with Finance and provide accurate performance and financial reporting.
Data Analytics & Workforce Modelling
- Leverage analytics to improve planning accuracy.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and predictive models.
- Manage databases, KPI collation, and documentation of data flows.
Talent, Succession & Personnel Operations
- Support recruitment strategies through workforce insights.
- Liaise with agencies and onboard agency casuals.
- Partner with HR on capability development and succession planning.
- Support and conduct staff and contractor inductions.
Operational Optimisation
- Monitor labour costs and workforce efficiency.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Support scheduling strategies and performance tracking.
Workplace Health & Safety
- Ensure all workforce planning activities uphold WHS standards.
- Work closely with WHS teams to ensure compliance across processes and structures.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing, inventory, PPE allocation, and waste management.
- Oversee pallet control, controlled drugs management, RF equipment, and invoice reconciliation.
- Ensure accurate costing and SAP entry for all invoices.
About You
You’re analytical, commercially aware, and thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment. You enjoy solving complex workforce challenges and influencing decisions at all levels.
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualification in HR, business, analytics, supply chain, or related field.
- Proven experience in workforce planning, analytics, or strategic HR.
- Strong capability in forecasting, modelling, and data analysis.
- Advanced Excel and experience with workforce management systems.
- Experience in retail, healthcare, logistics, or distribution environments (highly desirable).
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills.
- A hands‑on, solutions‑focused approach with exceptional attention to detail.
